According to TransferMarketWeb, Liverpool are mulling over a move for Karim Adeyemi. The RB Salzburg attacker has become a hot prospect in the market and is courted by the Premier League giants. They are even considering an offer for Adeyemi, who is valued at €30 million, but they could face stiff competition from FC Barcelona.
Karim Adeyemi’s Rapid Rise To Prominence
Formerly of FC Bayern youth academy, Adeyemi has enjoyed substantial success since his move to Austria. He joined Salzburg in 2018 for a fee of just €3 million, though it was at Liefering where he had made his professional breakthrough, scoring nine goals in 14 matches in the Austrian second division.
But last season, Adeyemi was given a more prominent role in the starting eleven. He didn’t disappoint either, being involved in 16 goals in 29 matches and after the summer exit of Patson Daka, the German has become the main goalscorer for RB Salzburg this term.
Adeyemi has the numbers to show for it as well, having already netted six goals in as many appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga. His performances were rewarded with a call-up to the German national team, with the attacker even scoring in his debut against Armenia.
A centre-forward by trade, it appears the 19-year-old has truly mesmerised the onlookers with his goalscoring prowess. But in addition to his productivity, the youngster’s technical prowess and ability to link up play in the final third have truly made him one of the most in-demand German attackers in the market.
A Good Option For Liverpool?
There is no secret that Liverpool are on the hunt for attacking reinforcements. After a stale summer transfer window, Jurgen Klopp is ready to return to the market to find a new competitor for Roberto Firmino, whose importance in the first-team has deteriorated over time.
As such, it is essential for the Reds to find an able long-term replacement. And that is where Adeyemi comes into the fray, having impressed in the Austrian Bundesliga, not only with his technical prowess but also with his sheer productivity in the final third.
It is quite a unique combination that could help Adeyemi become one of the best attackers in German football. Given his familiarity with RB’s brand of football, he should not find it difficult to fit in at Liverpool either, under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp, who loves the counter-attacking brand of football.
It is apparent that the Reds have had to deal with more possession in recent years, but Adeyemi, nonetheless, could become an excellent cog in the final third. His productivity, alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane could indeed spark life into the Liverpool offence once again.
