According to Calciomercato, Arsenal are among clubs interested in Dusan Vlahovic. The Fiorentina forward is being touted as the next big thing, having enjoyed a steady growth over the past couple of years. The Gunners, however, are joined by multiple clubs including RB Leipzig, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and AS Roma in the pursuit of Vlahovic this summer.
Dusan Vlahovic’s Rise To Prominence
Dusan Vlahovic was brought into Fiorentina back in 2018 by Cesare Prandelli. He was rated as one of the most promising young Serbian attackers at the time and was eventually drafted into the senior side after performing brilliantly in the Primavera.
So far, Vlahovic has notched up 74 competitive appearances for Fiorentina, netting 20 goals. 12 of those have come in the ongoing campaign, where the striker has emerged as the focal point of the Viola attack.
Apart from his improved scoring tally, the Serbian international has primarily impressed the onlookers with his brilliant positional awareness coupled with the ability to work his magic with the ball. It makes him quite a tactically versatile centre-forward, which complements his newfound hunger to find the back of the net.
Is Vlahovic An Ideal Target For Arsenal?
Arsenal’s interest in Dusan Vlahovic likely stems from their desire to offload Alexandre Lacazette in the summer. The Frenchman has done relatively well in the ongoing campaign, but it appears Mikel Arteta is looking for a more tactically astute centre-forward.
That is where Vlahovic comes into the fray. Blessed with immense technical skill and versatility, he could turn out to be an ideal fit in Arteta’s attacking unit that often relies on unpredictable movements from the attackers.
In addition, the Serbian, at the age of just 21, has time on his side and can offer a lot of prospect for the future. In fact, the Fiorentina forward could emerge as the potential face of the future Arsenal attack alongside the likes of Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, playing a crucial role in Arteta’s new era at Emirates.
However, it is fair to point out that Vlahovic may struggle in a more physical nature of the Premier League, meaning he will definitely need to work on his physicality as well as receive proper support from the fans if he is to succeed in England.
Nevertheless, the former Partizan FK prodigy seems like a good long-term investment for the Gunners as they continue their search for attacking reinformcents in the summer.
