Barcelona have secured all three points from their Matchday 27 encounter against Huesca following a thumping 4-1 victory at the Camp Nou Stadium. This victory has taken Barcelona to the 2nd position in the points table, just four points behind Atletico Madrid. Lionel Messi scored the night’s opening and closing goals, and both were spectacular goals to watch.
Antoine Griezmann doubled Barcelona’s lead before the visitors pulled one goal back with a penalty just before the referee blew the half time whistle. Barcelona were quick to respond post the break, with Mingueza reinstating Barcelona’s two goal cushion. Here’s how the Catalans rated in their 4-1 victory at home.
Barcelona Player Ratings Against Huesca
GK: Marc Andre Ter Stegen – 7/10
The German goalie was largely untested on the night but failed to stop the penalty from Mir just before the first half came to a close.
RB: Sergino Dest – 7/10
Dest was industrious down the right-hand side and gave the Huesca defenders a lot to worry about. Ilaix Moriba was brought on to replace Dest in the second half of the match.
CB: Oscar Mingueza – 8/10
A good leap from Mingueza backed with a well directed header handed Barcelona their third goal of the night. Mingueza was sound at the back, and Koeman would not have had many complaints with the young defender.
CB: Frenkie de Jong – 7/10
The Dutchman had an impressive outing in defence and kept things relatively quiet at the back. Ronald Araujo came on to replace de Jong around the hour mark on his return from injury.
CB: Clement Lenglet – 7/10
Lenglet had a satisfactory evening at Camp Nou, and there is a lot for him to improve on if he wishes to prolong his Barcelona career.
LB: Jordi Alba – 7/10
Jordi Alba was energetic and vibrant down the left-hand side. Alba created a lot of trouble when in advanced areas of the pitch and kept the Huesca defence guessing.
CM: Sergio Busquets – 8/10
Assisted Lionel Messi’s opening goal of the night and had a rather calm evening in midfield. Busquets was not put under immense pressure by the visitors and went about his business in the centre of the park with relative ease.
CM: Pedri – 7/10
Pedri was lively in midfield and kept things ticking for the Catalans in the centre of the field. Pedri made way for Riqui Puig in the closing moments of the game.
CAM: Antoine Griezmann – 8/10
Greizmann was heavily involved in the game and was rewarded for his attempts with a goal in the first half.
ST: Ousmane Dembele – 7/10
Not one of the best nights for Dembele, who failed to impose himself throughout his stint on the field of play. Dembele even seemed a bit slow to the pace of the game. Martin Braithwaite came on to replace Dembele for the last five minutes or so of the fixture.
ST: Lionel Messi – 9/10
Lionel Messi had an amazing evening at the Camp Nou as he opened the scoring in scintillating fashion and later even assisted Mingueza’s headed goal in the second half. Messi ended his night in the best way possible with a second goal to his credit right at the brink of the full-time whistle.
