Liverpool locked horns with Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Molineux Stadium earlier tonight as they looked to secure a positive result in the Premier League. The Reds struggled to get hold of the ball in the first half but looked dangerous on the counter. The Merseyside giants finally managed to score the opening goal via Diogo Jota’s finish from a tight angle just before the half-time interval.

Both teams cancelled each other out in the second half as they struggled to find the cutting edge in the final third. The contest got extended because of Rui Patricio’s unfortunate head injury, but it ended 1-0 in favour of the Premier League champions.

Let’s take a look at how each Liverpool player performed during the match against Wolves.

GK: Alisson Becker – 7/10

The Brazilian keeper had a little bit of trouble collecting the ball but made some important saves to restrict the opposition from scoring during the game. He will be happy with the clean sheet tonight.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold – 7/10

The English right-back looked assured at the back and dealt with Pedro Neto’s threat quite well throughout the game. However, his final delivery often let him down.

CB: Nathaniel Phillips – 8/10

Phillips commanded his penalty box with authority and conviction. He produced a brilliant display on the defensive end of the field and deserves his clean sheet.

CB: Ozan Kabak – 7/10

He supported his centre-half partner well by mopping up the danger when needed. He was also tidy when passing the ball out from the back.

LB: Andrew Robertson – 7/10

The Scottish full-back had some trouble dealing with Adama Traore’s pace in the first half. However, he turned the fight on its head and put in a dogged display after the half-time break.

CM: Thiago Alcantara – 6/10

The Spaniard was often second best to the ball but never gave up chasing the opposition. He also gave away the ball quite a few times and got replaced in the second half.

CM: Fabinho – 7.5/10

The Brazilian midfield ace made some crucial interceptions and brought a calmness in Liverpool’s build-up play from the back. He also remained composed under pressure and dealt with everything that came his way.

CM: Georginio Wijnaldum – 7/10

The Dutch international produced a tireless shift at the centre of the park and retained possession with ease for his team. He also set-up a great chance for Sadio Mane in the first half.

RW: Mohamed Salah – 6/10

The Egyptian winger struggled to get himself involved in the game in the first half but looked a bit more active in the second. He had a goal ruled out as off-side late in the game.

ST: Diogo Jota – 7.5/10

The Portuguese striker led the press effectively in the Wolves half and popped up with the opening goal just before half-time, which was enough for his team to collect all three points.

LW: Sadio Mane – 7/10

The Senegalese speedster squandered some decent chances to find the back of the net. However, he was a constant nuisance for Nuno Espirito Santo’s defenders and has got an assist to show for his efforts.

CM: James Milner – 6/10

The veteran player added some energy to the Liverpool midfield.

CM: Naby Keita – 6.5/10

He produced an encouraging cameo off the bench.

CAM: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6/10

The English attacker linked up play well with others around him.
