According to Mirror, Yasser Larouci has become a subject of interest for Leeds United. The Liverpool prodigy is being courted as a potential alternative for top target Patrick van Aanholt, with coach Marcelo Bielsa desperate to bolster his options in the fullback department. Larouci is reportedly on the verge of leaving Anfield in the summer, so the Whites shouldn’t have too much difficulty in signing the youngster.
Yasser Larouci: Player Profile
Yasser Larouci joined Liverpool back in 2017 from the Le Havre academy in France. A left-back by trade, he was then regarded as a huge prospect as he eventually made his way into the Liverpool EDS squad within a couple of years. His progress, however, has been halted since, with the defender yet to grab the experience of playing in professional football.
In sporting terms, though, Larouci is indeed a talented fullback who loves to attack the opposition. He can dribble past defenders using his quick feet, but more importantly, has the physical attributes to complement his style of play.
In addition, the 20-year-old is quite athletic and is blessed by the sheer pace that makes him a scourge on the counter. Using his speed, the defender can not only move forward but also cover a lot of ground in a quick span of times. It quite resembles the nature of FC Bayern superstar Alphonso Davies, although Larouci still has to work on his defensive traits, as well as his tactical understanding of the game.
Is Larouci A Wise Option By Bielsa?
Leeds United are in desperate need of a left-back, who can offer backup for the versatile Stuart Dallas while Ezgjan Alioski’s future remains uncertain. Yasser Larouci, though, might not be the best of options due to his lack of experience at the highest level of football.
Having mostly played in the youth leagues across England and France, the 20-year-old is certain to find it difficult to settle into the fast-paced nature of English football. His dribbling ability, pace and physical attributes do tune in well with Marcelo Bielsa’s tactical setup at Leeds, but it could be challenging for him to actually make himself an established first-team player at the club.
That said, Larouci could become an ideal long-term option for the Whites provided they could sign a veteran like Patrick van Aanholt in the summer. Much like Alioski, the youngster can play a more attacking role if necessary – making him an ideal long-term investment for the Yorkshire outfit.
