Chelsea faced off against Leeds United at Elland Road earlier this afternoon as they looked to pick up maximum points on their travels in the Premier League. The Blues kept a good shape in the first half but were unable to break the Whites defence down as they went into the half-time interval with a goalless scoreline.
Both teams fought tooth and nail in the second 45 minutes but cancelled each other out despite the West London outfit enjoying more of the ball as the contest ended 0-0 after the full-time whistle.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the clash against the Whites.
GK: Edouard Mendy – 7.5/10
The Blues goalie made a couple of world-class saves in each half and managed to keep a clean sheet at Elland Road.
CB: Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10
The Spanish defensive ace cleared the danger when called into action and produced a solid display throughout the 90 minutes.
CB: Andreas Christensen – 7/10
Christensen had one sloppy moment at the back but recovered well to put in an encouraging display in the second half.
CB: Antonio Rudiger – 7.5/10
The German centre-back commanded his penalty area with authority and conviction. He made multiple clearances to restrict the Leeds attackers from scoring and was tidy with his passing.
LM: Ben Chilwell – 7/10
He had a tough time against Raphinha in the first half but pulled off quite a few important interceptions on the defensive end of the field. He had a couple of lively moments in the Whites half as well, but his final delivery let him down more often than not.
CM: Jorginho – 6.5/10
He protected his backline well but struggled to create any meaningful openings in the final third.
CM: N’Golo Kante – 7.5/10
Kante showed great energy to get up and down the field. He disrupted the rhythm of the Leeds attackers and even managed to engineer a few inviting chances offensively. He also made multiple driving runs with the ball from midfield.
RM: Christian Pulisic – 6.5/10
He was a threat going forward but was far from convincing when being tested defensively during his time on the pitch.
CAM: Mason Mount – 6.5/10
Mount was not shy of getting hold of the ball but failed to give a good account of himself in the attacking third.
CAM: Hakim Ziyech – 7/10
He showed great vision to create some encouraging opportunities for others around him but never looked like he had a goal in him.
ST: Kai Havertz – 6/10
The German youngster had his moments but was lacklustre with his finishing during the game.
Substitutes:
RM: Reece James – 6.5/10
He offered some fresh legs on the right flank and looked a bit more comfortable as a wing-back than Pulisic.
CAM: Timo Werner – 6/10
The German attacker never got a sniff at goal after coming off the bench.
CAM: Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6/10
He added some pace to the Blues attack.
