Leicester City entertained Manchester United at the King Power Stadium earlier this afternoon hoping to pick up a positive result at home. The Foxes made a bright start but conceded the opening goal in the 23rd minute when Marcus Rashford found the back of the net. However, Harvey Barnes equalised for Leicester just eight minutes later which meant that both teams went into the half-time break all level on the scoreline.
The two sides were willing to go all out for the three points in the second 45 minutes. Man United finally managed to regain their lead in the 79th minute via Bruno Fernandes’ goal from close range before Axel Tuanzebe scored an unfortunate own goal just six minutes later which set-up a blockbuster finale to the game. However, the match ended with the Foxes fighting out a 2-2 draw with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
Let’s take a look at how each Leicester player fared during the match against the Red Devils.
GK: Kasper Schmeichel – 6/10
The Foxes keeper made a superb save in the second half to deny Rashford a goal. However, he will be disappointed after conceding two goals during the 90 minutes.
RB: James Justin – 6.5/10
Justin worked hard at the back and was not afraid to clear his lines when needed. He also created a couple of decent chances in the opposition half.
CB: Wesley Fofana – 7/10
The French centre-half showed great pace to track back some of the late runs made by the Man United attackers. He made some important interceptions during the game and was composed on the ball, but he won’t be happy after allowing two goals today.
CB: Jonny Evans – 6/10
Evans used his experience well to deal with the danger but was far from convincing at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ defence.
LB: Timothy Castagne – 6.5/10
The Belgian talent did well to fill in as a makeshift left-back but struggled to get himself involved in the attacking third.
CM: Wilfred Ndidi – 6/10
Ndidi managed to stop Man United from creating too many chances from midfield but lacked creativity with his passing in the opposition half.
CM: Youri Tielemans – 7/10
The Belgian midfield ace earned possession back for his team on a couple of occasions and made multiple driving runs with the ball from midfield.
RM: Marc Albrighton – 6/10
The English winger worked his socks off but failed to engineer any chances for his teammates to score.
CAM: James Maddison – 7/10
The former Coventry City talent was quite creative with his passing and was the one who was always looking to unlock the Man United defence.
LM: Harvey Barnes – 7.5/10
Barnes equalised for the Foxes with a brilliant left-footed strike from outside the penalty box in the first half. However, his impact on the field faded as the match progressed in the second 45 minutes.
ST: Jamie Vardy – 7/10
The English striker didn’t get too many opportunities to get his name on the scoresheet. However, he never gave up and popped with a vital contribution in the 85th minute when his shot saw the ball get deflected off Tuanzebe into an empty net.
Substitutes:
RM: Ayoze Perez – 7/10
He was a real livewire after coming off the bench and deserves credit for setting up his team’s second goal.
