Bayern Munich faced off against Lokomotiv Moscow at the Allianz Arena earlier tonight hoping to pick up a win in their final group game of this UEFA Champions League campaign. The Bavarian giants were dominant in the first 45 minutes but struggled to find the finishing touch in front of goal. Both sides went into the half-time interval with nothing to split them.
The home team kept pushing in the second half and finally managed to score the opener after the hour mark courtesy of Niklas Sule’s goal. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting doubled his team’s advantage in the 80th minute which killed the game off. The contest ended with Hans-Dieter Flick’s players securing a comfortable 2-0 win at home.
Let’s take a look at how each Bayern player fared during the match against Lokomotiv Moscow.
GK: Manuel Neuer – 7/10
The German keeper made some decent stops and was quite tidy with his ball-distribution as well. He will be happy with his clean sheet tonight.
RB: Bouna Sarr – 7.5/10
The French full-back was defensively solid and created some decent chances for his teammates from the right flank.
CB: Jerome Boateng – 7/10
Boateng made some important interceptions for his team but picked up a yellow card in the second half and got replaced in the 68th minute.
CB: Niklas Sule – 8.5/10
The German centre-half had a brilliant game inside his half as he performed his defensive duties well when called into action. He also popped up with the opening goal in the 63rd minute, which made life easy for his teammates.
LB: Alphonso Davies – 8/10
The Bayern speedster didn’t have to do too much work defensively, but he was a real weapon going forward. Davies was a constant menace when running with the ball at full speed and completed numerous lung-bursting dribbles down the left-wing.
CM: Leon Goretzka – 7/10
He shielded his backline well and hardly gave away the ball when distribution possession at the centre of the park.
CM: Marc Roca – 6/10
Roca kept the ball moving in midfield but lacked creativity with his passes in the opposition half.
RW: Leroy Sane – 7/10
The ex-Manchester City winger was not afraid to take on his marker and beat them with pace out on the wide areas. He also engineered a couple of decent goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates during the game.
CAM: Thomas Muller – 5.5/10
Muller struggled to get into the game early on and had a quiet first half. He got substituted at half-time.
LW: Douglas Costa – 7.5/10
The Brazilian wing wizard was a constant threat down the left flank and ended the match with an assist to his name.
ST: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting – 8/10
He was not afraid to have a strike at goal and finally managed to get his name on the scoresheet with a late goal in the 80th minute.
Substitutes:
CAM: Serge Gnabry – 7/10
Gnabry played the whole second half and created all sorts of problems for the opposition. He has even got an assist to show for his efforts.
CAM: Jamal Musiala – 6.5/10
He retained the ball well in the opposition half but didn’t do much with it.
CB: Chris Richards – 6.5/10
He did well to see out the win with the clean sheet intact.
LB: Lucas Hernandez – 6/10
Hernandez steadied the ship and did what was asked of him.
CM: Angelo Stiller – N/A
The youngster hardly had any time to make an impact.
