According to Manchester Evening News, Ethan Galbraith is among the players set to be loaned in January by Manchester United. The youngster is joined by Arnau Puigmal and Ethan Laird as players who could move elsewhere in the upcoming winter transfer window as the Red Devils look to provide their young players with an opportunity to get some regular game-time in professional football.
Who Is Ethan Galbraith?
Galbraith has been a part of the Manchester United youth setup since 2017 when he joined the club from Linfield. He has since enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence and was notably promoted to the reserve side last summer.
A central midfielder by trade, Galbraith has been already compared to Barcelona legends like Xavi and Andres Iniesta for his majestic range of passing. He is particularly known for his ability to provide defence-threading forward passes, almost in the same manner as current Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba.
Although Gailbraith might not boast a similar level of physicality or aggression as Pogba, he certainly knows where to position himself. It is, in fact, a vital part of his game, especially in the number six or the number eight position.
Meanwhile, the youngster is not afraid to test the goalkeeper from distance either and is gifted with a vicious right foot, thus making him a threat from long-range.
Should Man United Send Galbraith On Loan?
Galbraith, no doubt, has a lot of quality up his sleeves and all the right characteristics of becoming a top-class midfielder in the Premier League. Unfortunately, he will be devoid of proper game-time if he remains at Manchester United, who already have a strong midfield unit.
Indeed, Fred is currently on a great run of form while Galbraith is also unlikely to move ahead of the likes of Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay in the pecking order. Hence, finding a temporary new home in the upcoming January transfer window might be the best option as the youngster looks to continue his development at the highest level of football.
Although the midfielder might not manage to secure a move to a Premier League club, the English Championship might not be a bad destination either as it has produced modern-day PL stars like Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins among many others. For Manchester United, therefore, sending Galbraith out on loan in January could be an ideal solution.
