Liverpool will play hosts to West Ham United at Anfield on Saturday evening hoping to secure another Premier League victory at home. The Reds have not been playing their best football of late but has still managed to win all of their past three matches across all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp will probably set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could welcome Joel Matip back from injury for this weekend’s clash versus David Moyes’ men. We can expect Georginio Wijnaldum to return as well while James Milner settles for a spot on the bench.
4-2-3-1 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face West Ham United
Defence
Alisson Becker will operate in goal for the Reds after earning a well-deserved shutout against FC Midtjylland in midweek. Fabinho picked up an injury in that game which will rule him out of this contest against the Hammers. Joel Matip will be in a race against time to be fit for this game. If the Cameroonian defender can pass a late fitness test, then he will play alongside Joe Gomez at the heart of the Liverpool backline. Otherwise, Rhys Williams could make his full Premier League debut for the Merseyside club as a centre-half.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will get the nod to operate at right-back while Andrew Robertson focusses on producing another tireless performance as the left-back. Both of them will carry most of the creative burden from the wide areas.
Midfield
Jordan Henderson will once again partner Georginio Wijnaldum at the centre of the park as they try to retain possession well and orchestrate some clear-cut goal-scoring chances in the opposition half. The dangerous trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota will operate just ahead of them as part of Klopp’s attack. Both Jota and Mane have enjoyed a rich vein of form in recent games which should keep them in high spirits heading into this weekend’s Premier League showdown at Anfield.
Attack
Mohamed Salah will get the responsibility to lead the charge up top. The Egyptian wing wizard came off the bench to score a penalty in the 2-0 win over FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Champions League. Hence, we can expect him to fancy his chances of finding the back of the net against a West Ham defence that has shipped in four goals in their past two outings.
Takumi Minamino will be available for selection on the bench but could come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.
