Manchester United entertained Red Bull Leipzig at Old Trafford earlier tonight hoping to pick up another win in the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils made a bright start to the game as they took the lead courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s goal in 21st minute. However, the German side dominated possession, but the home team managed to defend their narrow advantage and went into the half-time interval one goal to the good.

The visitors kept pushing in search of an equaliser after the break. However, Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score two quick-fire goals which killed the contest. Anthony Martial added another one via the penalty spot in the 87th minute before Rashford completed his hattrick in injury-time as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men secured a dominant 5-0 victory at the Theatre of Dreams.

Let’s take a look at how each Man United player fared during the contest against RB Leipzig.

GK: David de Gea – 7.5/10

The Spanish keeper made a couple of solid stops on his way to earning an important clean sheet at home.

RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10

The ex-Crystal full-back was defensively solid during his time on the field. He got subbed in the latter stages of the second half.

CB: Victor Lindelof – 6.5/10

He maintained a good shape in defence and dealt with everything that came his way during the 90 minutes. He will be happy after securing the clean sheet tonight.

CB: Harry Maguire – 6/10

Maguire was a commanding presence in the air and won a few important headers at the back.

LB: Luke Shaw – 6.5/10

Shaw was full of energy and running down the left flank but had a nervy moment in the first half when he lost track of Christopher Nkunku.

CM: Nemanja Matic – 5.5/10

The Serbian midfield ace struggled to make an impact in the first 45 minutes and got replaced after the hour mark.

CM: Fred – 7.5/10

The French international picked an assist for setting up Greenwood’s goal in the first half. However, he ran out of gas in the second and got subbed in the 81st minute.

The Dutch playmaker produced an industrious performance and caused a lot of problems for the opposition with his tireless running and neat touches in and around the penalty box.

ST: Mason Greenwood – 7/10

The talented youngster popped up with the opening goal in the 21st minute, which gave his team a solid platform to go on and snatch the three points. He looked tired after the half-time break and got substituted midway through the second half.

ST: Anthony Martial – 7.5/10

Martial made some well-timed runs but was mostly a frustrated figure up top. However, he kept his composure to slot home the penalty in the 87th minute and also finished with an assist to his name for setting up Rashford’s third goal.

Substitutes:

CM: Scott McTominay – 7/10

McTominay offered some fresh legs in midfield.
