According to Monday’s print edition of L’Equipe (transcripted and translated by Sport Witness), super-agent Pini Zahavi has offered his client Morgan Sanson to Everton among other clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the summer transfer period. The same source has also claimed that both Crystal Palace and West Ham United were interested in recruiting the French midfielder, but the player is not keen on such a move which could open the door for the Toffees to land him this summer (via Sport Witness).

Sanson has enjoyed a fruitful season at the Orange Vélodrome after producing a series of productive displays at the centre of André Villas-Boas’ midfield. He has banged in five goals and provided five assists in 30 matches for the French outfit across all competitions which highlight his growing influence in the attacking third.
The 25-year-old was a consistent performer for Marseille in the recently concluded Ligue 1 campaign as evidenced by his average of 2.2 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.4 shots, 1.1 key passes and 1.5 dribbles in every 90 minutes of league football. Sanson has also been quite tidy with his ball-distribution after completing 86% of his passes in the French top-flight (stats via whoscored). His stats justify how he has become such a favourite among the Marseille supporters.
The ex-Montpellier midfield ace has represented France at various youth levels but is still waiting to earn his first senior cap for his country. A summer switch to the Premier League could provide him with a more prominent platform to showcase his skills. Maybe he will be able to catch the attention of Les Bleus boss Didier Deschamps ahead of the UEFA European Championship finals which will now take place in the summer of 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sanson is a well-rounded midfielder who can do a bit of everything at the centre of the park. He can use his pace and agility to make some powerful runs with the ball in the opposition half. The Frenchman possesses excellent technique and passing ability which enables him to keep possession ticking without breaking a sweat in midfield.
He also has the vision to pick out a killer pass in the final third and is also a potent goal-threat from long range. There are no weaknesses in Sanson’s game as such, but the jury is still out on whether he can cope with the high intensity of English football.
Should The Toffees Take The Bait By Orchestrating A Move For Sanson This Summer?
The Ligue 1 playmaker will not only add more goals and creativity to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield but also enhance the overall quality of his first-team. He will be a significant upgrade over any of Everton’s current midfield options at Merseyside. The likes of Andre Gomes, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Fabian Delph, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin have all struggled to find consistency with their all-round performances in the middle of the pitch during this season.
Hence, Ancelotti will do well to take Zahavi’s bait by orchestrating a move to bring Sanson to Goodison Park before the start of the new campaign. At 25, the French midfielder is currently playing at his prime and will only get better with each year. Thus, it makes sense for the Toffees to target a playmaker of his skillset in this off-season.
