Manchester United will travel to Stamford Bridge to face off against Chelsea on Monday night hoping to pick up a surprise victory on the road. The Red Devils are unbeaten in their last three matches across all competitions and will come into this encounter in a good run of form. In contrast, the Blues have picked up just one win in their past four games and have been quite leaky at the back.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to set-up his side in a 4-2-3-1 formation and could make a few changes for this crucial league clash at the English capital.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Chelsea
Defence
David De Gea will operate in goal for the Red Devils after securing back-to-back clean sheets against Manchester City and Wolves respectively. Harry Maguire will line up alongside Victor Lindelof at the centre of the Man United backline. The defensive duo will hope to keep things tight at the back by keeping Tammy Abraham in check during the 90 minutes.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should get the nod to start as the right-back while Luke Shaw fills in on the other side in the left-back position. Both full-backs will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack so that they can create some decent openings for the front players.
Solskjaer will instruct his defenders to maintain a high line so that they can dominate the game at the centre of the park.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic and Fred will be responsible for anchoring the midfield as they look to provide adequate protection to the Man United backline. Matic has often been guilty of slowing the tempo down, so he needs to be more proactive with his decision-making when attempting to distribute the ball from midfield.
The talented trio of Daniel James, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood will play just ahead of them as part of Solskjaer’s attack. Fernandes will be desperately trying to make a difference by helping his team emerge victorious on Monday night. The Portuguese playmaker was a prolific goal-scorer in the Liga NOS so the away supporters will expect to see him find the back of the net at Stamford Bridge.
Both Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata could be benched for this clash as they have often been inconsistent with their performances this season.
Attack
Anthony Martial will get a chance to lead the line for Man United up top. The French striker has struggled to hit top form for his team of late in the absence of his partner in crime, Marcus Rashford. Solskjaer needs to figure out a way to get the best out of him if the Red Devils are to make a late push for a Top 4 finish in the Premier League this season.
