Manchester United will play hosts to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Saturday hoping to pick up maximum points in front of the home supporters. The Red Devils will come into this encounter on the back of a 1-0 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in midweek.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and could be inclined to make minimal changes to his side for this showdown against the West Midlands outfit.
4-2-3-1 Manchester United Predicted Lineup Vs Wolves
Defence
David De Gea will start in between the sticks for the Mancunian giants after securing a clean sheet versus Man City in midweek. The defensive duo of Phil Jones and Harry Maguire will resume their partnership at the heart of the Man United backline. Both centre-backs will try to maintain a high line so that they can cope with Raul Jimenez’s threat on the counter.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka will get another opportunity to impress from the right-back position while Luke Shaw plays on the other side as the left-back. Both Man United full-backs will be instructed to keep a good defensive shape and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
The Red Devils have kept back-to-back clean sheets versus Tranmere Rovers and Manchester City respectively and so they will be confident about securing another shutout versus Wolves this weekend.
Midfield
Nemanja Matic will be suspended for this Saturday’s contest after being given his marching orders against the Citizens on Wednesday night. Hence, we can expect to see Andreas Pereira line up alongside Fred in the holding midfield position. The talented trio of Daniel James, Jesse Lingard and Mason Greenwood will play just ahead of them as part of Solskjaer’s attack.
Both Lingard and Greenwood managed to score against Tranmere in the FA Cup last weekend and so they would be fairly confident about putting in a similar display against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men this weekend.
Attack
Anthony Martial will be given the responsibility to lead the charge for the Red Devils down the middle. The French striker got himself on the scoresheet last weekend, but he was toothless against Man City in midweek which would be a cause for concern heading into this weekend’s Premier League clash versus the West Midlands giants.
