Manchester United entertained Partizan at Old Trafford earlier tonight hoping to return to winning ways in the UEFA Europa League. The Red Devils began the match on the front foot and took the lead in the 21st minute courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s goal. Anthony Martial doubled the home team’s advantage just 12 minutes later when he scored with an incredible solo effort. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men went into the half-time break two goals to the good.
The Mancunian outfit made a brilliant start to the second half as Marcus Rashford found the back of the net with a powerful strike in the 49th minute. However, the Serbia side were not good enough to come up with a response. The match ended with Solskjaer’s players emerging victorious by a 3-0 scoreline.
Let’s take a look at how each Man United player performed during the clash against Partizan.
GK: Sergio Romero – 6/10
The Argentine goalkeeper hardly had anything to do in the game with the Partizan attackers failing to test him during the full 90 minutes. However, Romero won’t mind keeping a clean sheet for an easy night’s work.
RB: Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 6/10
The ex-Crystal Palace full-back was defensively solid, but he once again lacked the quality with his crosses in the final third.
CB: Harry Maguire – 7/10
The English centre-back was a commanding presence inside his own half and did well to secure a shut-out. However, it looked like he picked up an injury late in the match which will be quite concerning for Solskjaer.
CB: Marcos Rojo – 7/10
The South American defensive ace had the hunger to put in a resolute performance at the back.
LB: Ashley Young – 6/10
The English veteran linked up play well with others and put in a decent shift at left-back.
CM: Scott McTominay – 5/10
It was not his best performance in a Man United shirt as he was sloppy in possession a few times in the first 45. However, he managed to put in a much-improved display in the second half.
CM: Fred – 6/10
The Brazilian midfield ace kept things ticking in midfield, but his ball-distribution left a lot to be desired.
RM: Mason Greenwood – 7/10
The Man United youngster does not miss too many scoring opportunities, and he once again proved that tonight. Greenwood managed to break the deadlock in the 21st minute to help his team make it three wins out of four in the Europa League.
CAM: Juan Mata – 7/10
The Spanish playmaker looked like his old self during the game. Mata was the main creative outlet for the home side. For a change, he did not disappoint with his performance tonight. The veteran playmaker created several decent openings for others around him.
LM: Marcus Rashford – 7.5/10
The English striker squandered a few decent opportunities to score. However, he did make the points secure for the Red Devils when he finished with a powerful strike early in the second half.
ST: Anthony Martial – 8/10
Man United look like a different beast with Martial in their side. The French striker was at the peak of his powers when he scored a superb solo goal in the first half. He deserved the man of the match award for his attacking performance tonight.
Substitutes:
CM: James Garner – 6/10
He added some energy to the Man United midfield.
CAM: Andreas Pereira – 5/10
He looked very average after coming off the bench.
CM: Jesse Lingard – 5/10
The English midfield ace did enough to see out the victory.
