Newcastle United have shown encouraging signs in the last few weeks as they have two wins and a draw in their previous four Premier League encounters. The Magpies managed to earn the crucial three points against West Ham away from home. Next, they will host Bournemouth at St. James’ Park. Eddie Howe’s men should also be high on confidence as they defeated Manchester United in their last fixture.
The Cherries have become defensively solid as they have conceded only one goal in their last four Premier League games. Steve Bruce’s men meanwhile are currently on the 15th spot, four points above the relegation zone. We are expecting a tight encounter which could sway to either side on just one goal.
Team News: Midfielder Sean Longstaff is going to miss out due to suspension. Defender Florian Lejeune is closing in on a return from a long term injury layoff, but he is likely to be unavailable for this game as well. Fabian Schar and Matt Ritchie are also doubtful for this tie.
Newcastle United Predicted Lineup Vs Bournemouth
Formation (5-4-1)
Defence
Martin Dubravka has continued to impress in goal, and he will start in between the sticks once again. Steve Bruce has more or less followed a similar template which Rafael Benitez left behind. The Toon are likely to go in with a back three of Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez. Clark has especially been influential in the last few games after he was more or less out of the picture at one point in time.
Jetro Willems has been terrific in the wing-back role, and he will start on the left. DeAndre Yedlin will spring forward in attack and look to defend astutely for the Toon when required. He is expected to play as the right wing-back.
Midfield
Jonjo Shelvey looked impressive against the Hammers as he grabbed a goal and his set-piece deliveries were also on point. We are expecting him to start in the middle. Isaac Hayden is likely to partner him in central areas.
Allan Saint-Maximin’s explosive pace and running can cause trouble to the Bournemouth defence, and he is expected to feature from the left flank. Miguel Almiron has had a patchy season so far, and the South American will likely begin on the right-wing.
Attack
Steve Bruce has got all his strikers fit and available as Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll are available for selection. However, summer signing Joelinton is expected to lead the line for the Tyneside outfit again.
