Liverpool are reportedly targeting Schalke left back Sead Kolasinac in January. The 23-year old’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season.
Kolasinac has been with Schalke since 2012 and has made 95 appearances for Die Knappen till date. Chelsea are also interested in the left back who is free to sign a pre-contract with any club in January.
Jürgen Klopp has been using James Milner on the left side of the defence and he has done pretty well in his new role. But with Milner turning 31 and Alberto Moreno failing to impress, the German boss is very keen to entice the Kolasinac.
Recently Joel Matip made the switch to Anfield from Schalke and if all goes well, Kolasinac might follow his ex-teammate.
Kolasinac has fallen down the pecking order with Chelsea loanee Baba Rahman has been preferred over him at times. Schalke are trying hard to negotiate a deal but the Bosnia & Herzegovina international wants an assurance of ample game time before signing a new contract.
Kolasinac has a very good relationship with Zeljko Buvac who happens to be Klopp’s assistant and that could help the Merseyside club in landing the defender.
West Ham United are also interested in the defender.
