Manchester United’s inability to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez is costing them big time so far as they have looked lacklustre in front of goal this season. Marcus Rashford has never been a prolific striker in his short career so far, and Anthony Martial is currently out with an injury.
Rashford’s performance has been well below par, but Ole doesn’t have too many options to choose from. There is no doubt that the club needs strikers at the moment and we think that Solskjær should consider getting one in January to resurrect this slide.
Here are three plausible options which he can consider.
Callum Wilson
The Bournemouth striker has become a mainstay for the Cherries, and he has managed to prove his worth in the Premier League in the last few seasons. Wilson already has five goals to his name this campaign, and he looks like a plausible option for the Red Devils.
Wilson’s pace and sharp movements are his standout asset, and he is often calm and composed in front of the goal. The Englishman is currently in the prime of his career, and he can take up the mantle of becoming the no. 1 striker at Old Trafford.
Raul Jimenez
The Mexican striker will likely cost big money as he was signed permanently by Wolves this summer only. However, he can be someone who can bring some energy in this lacklustre United side. The Mexican works hard off the ball and is a lethal finisher in front of goal. The 28-year-old can link up play well, and his game is suited to play on the counter-attack. Jimenez is reliable and robust, and he can even act as a targetman.
Along with that, the 79 times Mexican international can make runs between the channels and can be quite a handful for any defender. However, United’s recent fall from grace might mean that they could find it hard to lure him given that Wolves are a club on the rise. But the Manchester giants should have the funds to turn anyone’s head including the club and the player’s.
Moussa Dembele
The former Celtic man has been linked with Manchester United in the past few months. The striker has started the season well as he already has six goals to his name in 7 appearances so far in Ligue 1. Dembele will bring the much-needed directness to the United attack. He is also known for his smart link-up play. His physicality will also help him thrive in the Premier League.
