Liverpool will entertain Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon hoping to stretch their 100% winning record in the Premier League. The Reds come into this clash on the back of a convincing 3-0 win over Burnley before the international break.
The Merseyside outfit have been scoring goals for fun of late so we can expect them to continue their dominance at Merseyside this weekend. Jurgen Klopp is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might name an unchanged side for this encounter against the Magpies.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Adrian will retain his place as Liverpool’s first-choice keeper in the absence of Alisson Becker, who is still sidelined with a calf injury.
Both Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk have formed a solid centre-back partnership at the heart of Klopp’s backline. The defensive duo managed to claim their first clean sheet of this campaign against Burnley. Therefore, they will come into this game looking to put in a similar kind of defensive display against Steve Bruce’s men this weekend.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will look to get forward and whip in some inviting crosses from the right-back position. Andrew Robertson will be expected to put in another tireless display on the other side as the left-back.
Joe Gomez might have to settle for a place on the Liverpool bench. Klopp might call upon his services during the game if required.
Midfield
The home side’s midfield might be comprised of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum once again after they put in a brilliant collective display versus the Clarets before the international break. The talented trio will aim to work their socks off and press the opposition high up the pitch so that they can establish Liverpool’s dominance at the middle of the park.
James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will likely have to wait for their chance as part of Klopp’s bench. However, Naby Keita is still out of action with a serious injury and won’t participate in this weekend’s clash at Anfield.
Attack
Klopp will unleash the dangerous front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah against the Magpies up top. All three forwards have been amongst the goals for the Reds this season so we can expect them to make the difference on Saturday.
Divock Origi might get a chance to make an impact off the bench if Klopp decides to call upon his services during the game.
