According to a recent tweet posted by renowned Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Manchester United are plotting a move to bring Juventus striker Paulo Dybala to Old Trafford in this off-season. However, the same source has revealed that the Red Devils will face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of the Serie A star before the start of the new campaign.
Schira has also claimed that Juve are demanding a fee around €80m in his tweet which read, “#ManchesterUnited and #PSG are interested in Paulo #Dybala. First contacts about his future. #Juventus want €80M at least to sell him, but he would like to stay. #transfers #MUFC“
Dybala’s Average Form For Juventus Last Season
Dybala had to endure a frustrating season at the Allianz Stadium (when compared to his high standards) as he struggled to find productivity in the attacking third of the pitch. The Serie A prospect featured in 42 matches for the Turin outfit in the last term, scoring ten goals while creating five assists in all competitions.
His form had taken a considerable dip last season, but he was still a major goal-threat in the opposition half. Dybala had scored 26 goals in the 2017-18 campaign so his record from the previous season will be disappointing as it indicates that he is on decline. Hence, a change of scenery could help the Argentine sensation rekindle his career in European football.
What Will The Argentine International Add To Solskjaer’s Team?
Dybala has a lot of tricks in his locker, which makes him a challenging prospect to deal with for any opposition defender. The Juve forward can be a potent threat because of his blistering pace and guile in the opposition half. The Argentine has also got a remarkable turn of speed, which allows him to make some dangerous runs in the wide areas. Furthermore, the South American sensation is always willing to create chances for his teammates in the final third, which means that he is a team player.
A player of Dybala’s skillset will undoubtedly improve Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking options at Old Trafford. He would be a massive coup for Man United if they can find a way to lure him to the Theatre of Dreams ahead of the new campaign.
At 25, the Argentine trickster is currently playing at his prime which the Red Devils could look to benefit from over the next few years. However, the jury is still out on whether Dybala would be able to cope with the physical side of Premier League football.
