According to the latest reports from Daily Record, Rangers and Steven Gerrard have a chance of knowing Ryan Kent’s future sooner than expected. The Liverpool man is said to be a top priority for the Gers, but the ball is currently in Liverpool’s court. The report mentions that Rangers are said to be the first option of Kent.
A permanent move from the Glaswegian giants is more or less ruled out as the Champions League holders are valuing the English winger over £10m. The report mentions that Kent has joined the preseason camp with Liverpool, but he could be allowed to leave earlier than expected which might be as early as next week. It all hinges on whether the winger would be named in Liverpool’s travelling contingent for a summer tour to the United States.
Why is Kent important for Rangers?
Gerrard’s team for the next season seems to be shaping up well, and he has got almost every base covered. The manager will probably like to have one more striker in the roster if someone like Kyle Lafferty departs from the club. However, there is no other player he would probably want as desperately as Kent.
The English youngster was named Rangers’ young player of the season. His performance against Celtic in all the derbies showed that he is a man for big occasions and his right hook at Scott Brown made him an instant cult hero in one part of Glasgow.
His direct playing style, ability to drive the ball forward with pace and intensity and his ever-improving finishing skills made him a standout player for Gerrard on the left flank. The club has plenty of options for the wide region, but Kent is someone who can elevate this team to a different level. He can be the game-changer in the attacking third.
Chances of Rangers getting their man?
Gerrard would hope that he gets to hear the good news from Liverpool’s camp in terms of acquiring Kent. English club like Leeds United are also said to be in the mix so we can expect some fierce competition off the pitch for the winger’s signature.
From Rangers’ point of view, they would hope that no Premier League club starts showing interest for the winger. As things stand and after reports from various quarters, it seems like Rangers are currently first in line to gain the Liverpool man’s signature. Hopefully, the Bears land him sooner rather than later with the Europa League qualifiers already underway.
