According to a recent report by AS (via the Daily Star), Tottenham Hotspur have pipped ahead of Atletico Madrid in the race to secure the services of the £27m-rated Dani Olmo from Dinamo Zagreb this summer.
The Recent Rise Of Dani Olmo At Stadion Maksimir
The Spanish midfield ace learned his trade as a teenager at Barcelona’s world-famous La Masia Academy before he joined Dinamo Zagreb back in the summer transfer period of 2014. Since moving to Croatia, the Terressa born whizkid fought hard to break out as a regular first-teamer for the Croatian side back in 2015.
Olmo experienced a productive campaign at Stadion Maksimir after he put in a string of eye-catching performances for them last season. The 21-year-old starlet featured in 44 matches for Dinamo in the previous term, scoring on 12 occasions while creating nine assists on all fronts.
The Spaniard likes to operate in the number 10 role as an attacking midfielder as it gives him the license to express himself in the opposition half. However, he can also fill in as a wide player on either wing if needed. Olmo is currently playing a major role for the Spanish Under-21 team, having scored three goals in 10 international matches for them so far.
What Will The Spanish Youngster Add To Pochettino’s Side?
Olmo is very consistent with his performances on the field and hardly lets his team down during high-pressure situations. The Spanish playmaker boasts decent pace which allows him to wreak havoc in the opposition half by making some intelligent runs from midfield. The Dinamo talent has also added goals and assists to his game, which proves that he is improving his skillset with each passing season.
Will Olmo Be A Good Option For Spurs?
There is no denying that Spurs will do well to prise him away from Zagreb as he is one of the brightest young talents in European football. He is a young midfielder who will improve the overall quality of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at North London.
At 21, he still has his prime years ahead of him which Tottenham could look to benefit from over the next few campaigns. All in all, the Spaniard will be a fantastic addition for Pochettino’s side as they look to compete across all competitions next season.
