According to a recent report by the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur will face stiff competition from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Red Bull Leipzig in pursuit of Fulham speedster Ryan Sessegnon during the summer transfer period. However, the same source has also revealed that the Cottagers winger prefers to work under Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino provided the two clubs can agree on a potential transfer at the end of this campaign.
The Steady Rise Of Ryan Sessegnon
The English prospect rose to prominence last season when he helped the West London outfit seal promotion back to the Premier League. However, he has failed to keep up the same level of performance this term, which could be one of the many reasons why Fulham got relegated from the English top-flight earlier this year.
Sessegnon has a bright future in European football as long as he is willing to work hard on improving his game on the pitch. The London born teenager has made 38 appearances for Fulham this term, registering two goals while grabbing six assists across all competitions.
The 18-year-old has already managed to establish himself as an integral member of the England Under-21 side. However, there is a lot of room for improvement in Sessegnon’s game so he would have to be patient for his chance to feature for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team.
What Will The England Under-21 International Add To Pochettino’s Side?
Sessegnon can travel with the ball at blistering speed down the flanks. He is also versatile enough to operate in any position on the left wing. On his day, the English starlet can contribute by scoring or assisting a few goals in the attacking third of the pitch.
Is The English Sensation A Good Choice For Spurs?
Adding a player of Sessegnon’s potential will undoubtedly bolster Mauricio Pochettino’s wing-back options at the new White Hart Lane. Spurs do not have too many natural wingers in their squad so the England U-21 international will probably get a chance to prove his worth at the North London club if he decides to make the switch.
Hence, Sessegnon could be an ideal choice for Pochettino to consider in this offseason as he will improve Tottenham’s squad depth and help them compete on all fronts next season.
