Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Vitality Stadium to clash heads with Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat against AFC Ajax in midweek. Spurs need to pick up some wins in the Premier League so that they can ensure UEFA Champions League football for another season.
Hence, this match against the Cherries could be an ideal opportunity for them to put some daylight between themselves and the chasing pack for the top 4 positions. Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 4-3-1-2 formation and might bring Heung-min Son back for this game away at the south coast of England.
4-3-1-2 Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Bournemouth
Defence
Hugo Lloris will operate as Spurs’ primary goalkeeper despite failing to keep a clean sheet against West Ham United and AFC Ajax respectively. Pochettino could opt for a centre-back duo of Davinson Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld as they look to put in a solid shift at the heart of the Tottenham defence.
Ben Davies will operate in the left-back position while Juan Foyth lines up on the other side as a makeshift right-back. It won’t be easy for the Spurs defenders to secure a shut-out this weekend as they will be going up against the lethal Bournemouth strikeforce of Callum Wilson and Joshua King with Ryan Fraser operating behind them.
Midfield
Eric Dier will feature in the holding midfield position as he looks to breakdown the Cherries’ attack and provide some added protection for the Spurs backline. Christian Eriksen will play in a more advanced role in midfield as he looks to create some opportunities going forward. Danny Rose will aim to use his pace and cause a few problems for Eddie Howe’s defenders.
Pochettino could play Dele Alli in the number 10 role so that he has enough freedom to link up with the Spurs forwards in the attacking third of the pitch.
Forward
The Spurs boss might be tempted to begin the contest with Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura up top. Son has been Tottenham’s biggest weapon following Harry Kane’s injury and so we can expect him to make a significant contribution in front of the Cherries goal if Spurs are to secure a result on Saturday afternoon.
Both Erik Lamela and Fernando Llorente should be available on Pochettino’s bench and might come on during the encounter if required.
