According to a recent report by the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are eager to secure the services of Lyon midfielder Tanguy N’Dombele but will face stiff competition from a whole host of clubs in pursuit of the Ligue 1 ace. It is understood that the Gunners are keeping tabs on the progress of the French midfielder with Unai Emery still looking to bolster his midfield options as he continues to turn things around at the Emirates Stadium.
The Ligue 1 talent is one of the most promising young midfielders coming out of European football after he put in some awe-inspiring displays for Lyon over the past couple of campaigns which caught the attention of the Gunners chiefs.
Ndombele’s Success In Ligue 1
The Ligue 1 sensation spent his youth career with EA Guingamp and SC Amiens respectively before opting for a move to the Groupama Stadium to play for Lyon in the summer of 2017. Ndombele has already showcased some outstanding performances for the French outfit during this season.
The French starlet has made 18 appearances for Lyon this term, scoring two goals and creating four assists across all competitions. At such a young age, the Longjumeau born prospect has already managed to earn four international caps for the French national side so far and is in line to play a big part for his nation in the coming years.
Ndombele’s best performance in recent past came in Lyon’s 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium back in September. The 21-year-old was exceptional during that game as he sat deep in midfield and shielded the backline well to help his side see out a hard-fought victory in the blue half of Manchester.
Should The Gunners Sign The French Midfielder?
The Lyon youngster has a very promising career ahead of him, and he could be nurtured into a future star in the English top-flight if given a chance to prove his value at a big club like Arsenal. Unai Emery already has the likes of Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi, Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny to call upon for a midfield berth in his starting XI. However, the potential acquisition of Ndombele would bolster his midfield options significantly and add more competition for places within the Gunners squad.
Hence, the North London giants should go all out to land him in the near future as he could turn out to be a smart long-term addition to Emery’s team.
