Liverpool have made a fabulous start to this campaign and are still unbeaten in the Premier League having played 12 league matches so far. One of the reasons for their successful unbeaten run has been the impact of Daniel Sturridge from the bench. The English forward came on to score a wonder goal which helped the Reds rescue a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The 29-year-old has also scored some important goals against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham United which makes him an invaluable asset for Jurgen Klopp.
However, the English striker was charged with a breach of betting regulations by the FA which has thrown his future at Anfield in doubt. If found guilty, Sturridge could face a lengthy ban from playing the beautiful game.
Hence, Klopp needs to identify a worthy replacement and so, here are three players that the Liverpool boss should consider signing in January.
Krzysztof Piatek
The Polish forward has been in the form of his life and has already scored a hatful of goals for Genoa this season. The 23-year-old has registered an eye-catching number of 13 goals in 13 matches for the Serie A outfit across all competitions which includes his superb four-goal display in the Coppa Italia against Lecce. He could be the ideal understudy to Roberto Firmino and would be a significant goal threat from the bench.
Hirving Lozano
The Mexican wonderkid had caught the eye with some brilliant performances at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia when he helped his nation secure qualification from the group stages before being knocked out by Brazil in the Round of 16.
The Eredivisie forward has also been quite prolific for PSV Eindhoven this season after scoring 11 goals while creating five assists in 20 matches for the Dutch giants in all competitions. There is no doubt that Lozano would be a smart addition to the Liverpool frontline if Jurgen Klopp can manage to lure him to Anfield in the near future.
Jamie Vardy
At the age of 31, the English goal-scorer still has a lot of pace and can give any defender a run for his money in the final third. He is a proven goal-getter in the Premier League while his link-up play in the opposition half is also quite sharp. With no international distractions to worry about, Vardy could be a fantastic short-term acquisition for Liverpool as they look to challenge Manchester City for the league title.
