Everton will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday hoping to continue their recent good form in the Premier League. The Toffees have won three successive matches in the league following their defeat at Arsenal last month. Marco Silva’s men seem to have found their goal-scoring touch in the attacking third which would give them a lot of confidence going into this crunch clash this weekend.
It is expected that the Merseyside club would line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Silva opting to make minimal changes to his Everton team.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Manchester United
Defence
Jordan Pickford should retain his place in goal for the Toffees once again while Maarten Stekelenburg awaits his chance on Marco Silva’s bench. The central defensive duo of Michael Keane and Kurt Zouma is expected to continue their partnership at the centre of the Toffees defence after keeping two clean sheets in their last three league starts.
Lucas Digne would play on the left side of the Toffees backline while he deals with the threat of Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young. Meanwhile, Seamus Coleman is expected to take the right-back berth following a successful return from injury against Crystal Palace last weekend.
There is no doubt that the Everton defenders would be in for a tough outing away at Old Trafford but they are more than capable of keeping it solid at the back and pass this test with flying colours.
Midfield
Idrissa Gueye would operate as a defensive midfielder alongside Andre Gomes who is expected to keep his place at the middle of the park. It is understood that the trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Theo Walcott will be deployed in the opposition half as they look to link up and cause problems for the United defence.
Sigurdsson has been in a rich vein of form of late so we can expect the Icelandic international to take some shots at goal from a distance. Richarlison might be dropped to the bench after failing to score last weekend. Silva would hope that a short absence from the first team would do the Brazilian a world of good going forward this season.
Attack
Cenk Tosun scored against the Eagles in the previous gameweek and might get the nod ahead of Dominic Calvert-Lewin to spearhead the Merseyside club’s attack up top. The Turkish forward needs to find the back of the net on a consistent basis with the competition for places heating up at Everton.
