Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho gave an interview today where he suggested that his team might not make any signings on the final day. However, reports from French media L’Equipe suggests otherwise as they believe that United are in talks with French heavyweights Paris Saint Germain over the possible sale of Layvin Kurzawa.
The 25-year-old French left-back made just 20 appearances in Ligue 1 last season, and there have been reports that PSG are set to go after Juventus’ left-back Alex Sandro later in the transfer market, and as a result, Kurzawa will have to make way for him.
The Red Devils have been linked with several centre-backs in the ongoing transfer period, and this piece of news won’t satisfy many of the United faithful as they already have the likes of Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in that position. Shaw was expected to leave in the summer as Mourinho had criticised him publicly last season. However, the young Englishman is set to be given another chance to prove himself at Old Trafford.
Kurzawa can be classified as a modern day full-back as he is equally adept at going forward and helping his team out defensively as well. The Frenchman is known for his ball control in close quarters, and he is always willing to provide overlapping runs, though he can still go on to improve on the defensive side of his game.

Ashley Young has been the regular left-back under Mourinho, and once he gains full match fitness, it will be expected that Young will start over Shaw. The 33-year-old has often been criticised for being caught out of position and failing to deliver the right crosses. Kurzawa will be an upgrade over the two options which Mourinho has at Old Trafford, but they don’t seem desperate enough to land a left back in the final hours of the transfer window.
