West Ham United have completed the signing of Spanish striker Lucas Perez from Arsenal on the deadline day. The 29-year-old was one of the out of favour players under Arsene Wenger, who let him leave for the La Liga in the last term. However, even after his departure, things did not tend to change for the forward under Unai Emery, and a move to the East London club should come as a relief for Perez.

The Hammers have agreed on a three year deal for Perez, which will see him ply his trade at the London Stadium next season. However, whether he will be used as a first team player or a sporadic option needs to be seen.

Perez joins an ensemble lineup of new players whom West Ham have procured this summer, including the likes of Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Fabian Balbuena and Felipe Anderson. After the dismal performance of the last season in the Premier League, the East London outfit have cleared their intention of launching a fight back to the top in the next season and have splashed some serious cash in the market to hand over a stellar looking lineup to their new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Hopefully, the move to West Ham will see Perez resurrect his form as a striker and have a good season to make a mark on the English soil. The 29-year-old has expressed his elation upon joining his new club. He said, “I’m very happy to be here at such a historic Club,” he added, “I’m very excited, as West Ham are giving me the chance to stay in the Premier League and I’m very happy to be part of this new project.”
