According to Goal.com, Chelsea have confirmed that they have let go of their influential goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to join Real Madrid. In return, they have welcomed Croatian midfield star Mateo Kovacic, who has been plying his trade with the Spanish giants so far.
The 24-year-old midfield ace had been used as a sporadic option since his arrival at the club and a place in the starting eleven looked hard to come by as the trio of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos has been dominating the proceedings at the Santiago Bernabeu. This had made the player impatient and he was looking to move out of the club in order to establish himself as a first-team star, both on the club as well as national level.
The west London giants looked to cash in on this as they have signed the player on loan from the Galacticos in order to strengthen their midfield for the next term. They already have signed a brilliant midfielder in the form of Jorginho earlier in the summer transfer window and have certainly added more steel to their lineup with the acquisition of Kovacic.
Last season was nothing near satisfactory in terms of Chelsea’s performance and their new manager Maurizio Sarri has an arduous task on his hand to re-establish the London club as one of the top clubs in the English top tier as well as Europe.

The player has come out to express his pleasure regarding the deal. He said, “I am really happy and excited to be here at Chelsea. It is an amazing feeling. I will try to do my best for this club. It is a new league for me, the beginning is always tough but I am sure the coach and my new team-mates will help me and I am looking forward to a great season.”
