Chelsea are ready to make an improved bid to secure the signature of Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are prepared to make a sizable offer for the Serie A prospect during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri is looking to be reunited with his former player at Stamford Bridge and is ready to meet Juve’s asking price in order to get him.
Some sources are now claiming that the West London club are lining up an offer in the region of £45m after the Turin giants declined their initial bid for the defender. Rugani has put in a number of impressive displays at the Juventus Stadium during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by the Blues.
It has also been suggested that Sarri is willing to offer the Italian prospect a contract worth around £4m/year. He has previously worked with Rugani during their time in Empoli while the defender was out on loan from Juve.
The 23-year-old had made 92 appearances in the Serie A and also has 7 international caps for the Italian national team so far. Rugani is exactly the kind of defender who can thrive under the guidance of Sarri if given the opportunity to lace up at Stamford Bridge in the upcoming campaign.
The West London giants did not have a season to remember the last term when they only managed to finish in the 5th spot of the league standings. However, a new campaign brings renewed hope so the Blues will look to bring in some quality players like Rugani in this window so that they have a strong squad capable of challenging on all fronts next term.
The addition of Rugani will definitely bolster Chelsea’s defensive options at Stamford Bridge. The London club has the likes of Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rüdiger in their ranks for now. The potential acquisition of Rugani will undoubtedly improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Chelsea squad.
