According to transfer window specialist Duncan Castle, Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro. However, signing him won’t be that straightforward as French heavyweights Paris Saint Germain are set to join the race to sign the Brazilian. It’s being said that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Sandro and would love to bring him to Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been using a makeshift left-back in Ashley Young as the Portuguese manager doesn’t rate Luke Shaw highly. Though, latest reports suggest that Shaw will stay at United and will fight for his place. However, the signing of Alex Sandro will definitely push him down the pecking order.
Castle recently went on to explain the situation and said,” Juventus don’t actively want to sell the player. But they are prepared to sell the player because they see the price is so high that they can cash in. Manchester United have agreed on personal terms in advance with Alex Sandro, he’s not particularly well paid at Juventus so it’s been easy to say ‘we’ll double your salary if you come to us’ and push for the move. On top of United’s interest, they now have interest from Paris St-Germain, because they are also desperate for a top-quality left-back.”
Sandro can be termed as a perfect modern-day fullback and he has all the qualities to be a good signing for Manchester United. He has searing pace along with being physically strong which makes it hard for defenders to shrug him off the ball. While defending, he is a good reader of the game and a tough tackler. The 27-year-old fullback isn’t shy of going into challenges every now and then. The Brazilian will definitely be an upgrade over Ashley Young and Luke Shaw.
Mourinho will be aware that he will need to deliver something substantial in the upcoming season. He was panned last season for his defensive tactics. The signing of Sandro will definitely add more attacking threat to United’s game as he will constantly occupy the defenders down the left. He made 39 appearances last season for Juventus and contributed with 4 goals and six assists as the Italian giants secured yet another Serie A title.

However, the United hierarchy will have to move in quick as Paris Saint Germain are also said to be interested in him. The French heavyweights are known to spent extravagantly and a bidding war might ensue between both the clubs to sign him. However, United seem the frontrunners at the moment to sign the 27-year-old Brazilian.
