Scottish football’s hottest property Kieran Tierney has been drawing attention from various Premier League clubs. However, the latest entrants in the race will certainly turn some head as European giants Juventus have joined the bandwagon to sign the impressive Scottish full-back. Celtic are also sticking to their guns as they are not letting him go cheap and are demanding £30m for their star.
The three-time consecutive Scotland PFA young player of the season winner has become one of the fan favourites at Celtic Park and is certainly destined for great things. Everton made a bid for him and it fell short of Celtic’s valuation for the player. As a result, the Toffees withdrew their interest for the left-back.
If Juventus do go on to pay such an amount it will break the all-time transfer record for a Scottish player by more than double the margin. The Italian giants have made some massive coups in the transfer market and the addition of Cristiano Ronaldo came as a surprise to everyone.
Brendan Rodgers had earlier indicated that holding on to his star defender will be tough. He had said,”The time when players were not for sale is long gone. The kid has signed a long-term deal and you can see the happiness he has here. But there’s also a moral aspect to it, where if a player is on X amount of money and he’s offered five X by someone else and the club also has a big offer then it’s something that will be spoken about.”
“Kieran, because of his age and his talent, is always going to be linked with other clubs. There will be suitors watching him. It is a short career and it’s only right that you’re mindful of that.”- he further added. It is clear that Rodgers will let the player leave if his valuation is met and £30m will be a fair price for the defender.
Juventus are looking to sell Alex Sandro who has drawn interest from Paris Saint Germain. The Serie A holders are looking at Tierney to replace him as they scouted him earlier this year. The 21-year-old has all the facets to be successful at the biggest stage as he is a tough tackling fullback and is equally good while attacking. He managed a tally of 4 goals and 11 assists along with keeping it tight at the back.

A move to the Serie A champions will be a big jump in the player’s career and they are going to be genuine contenders for the Champions League in the upcoming season. Any 21-year old’s head will turn knowing the fact that he can play alongside one of the best players in the world. However, it remains to be seen whether Juventus will pay the quoted amount for the Scotsman and whether Celtic will let go of their sensational youngster.
