Manchester United are lining up a surprise move for Tottenham Hotspur wide man Heung-min Son this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are interested in securing the services of the South Korean international during this summer transfer period. However, they are not the only ones trying to recruit Son and could face stiff competition from Arsenal and Liverpool in pursuit of the South Korean winger in this post-season.
The 25-year-old had a terrific campaign for Spurs and put in a number of match-winning displays for Mauricio Pochettino’s side during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed by other clubs. However, he couldn’t help his nation secure qualification from the group-stages of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Son had featured in 53 matches for Spurs last term, scoring 18 goals while grabbing 11 assists across all competitions.
The South Korean playmaker joined the North London club from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee believed to be in the region of £22m in the summer of 2015. The Tottenham star still has two years to run on his current contract at White Hart Lane.
He is exactly the kind of talent that the Red Devils are in dire need of! Son has a knack for scoring and creating goals on a consistent basis which could be a key asset for United going into the new season as they look to mount a realistic title charge in the English top tier.
The Reds of Manchester had a decent campaign last season and managed to clinch a second-placed finish which was overshadowed by their rivals, Manchester City‘s dominance at the top of the Premier League. A player of Son’s quality will give Mourinho’s squad a huge boost and it might help them close the gap to the Citizens in the upcoming campaign.
United have a whole host of attacking talents such as Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford competing for a starting berth in Mourinho’s first XI. The potential acquisition of Son will improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Red Devils squad.

At 25, the South Korean international still has his prime years ahead of him which United could look to benefit from, in the coming years. Son is also quite versatile and can play in a number of different areas across the frontline. The Tottenham maestro primarily operates on the left flank but can also be unleashed as a centre-forward or down the right wing which makes him a perfect fit for the Reds of Manchester. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Son and whether he makes a switch to Old Trafford before the start of the new campaign.
