It is not often that Liverpool have found themselves in a position where they have to decide if they want to let a player of the highest calibre, leave the club in the transfer market. But the way Jurgen Klopp has transformed the squad at Anfield, the Reds are now in dilemma about the futures of a number of first-team players at the club.
One such player, who is now wanted elsewhere in Europe is Daniel Sturridge.
The English international, who joined Liverpool from Chelsea back in January 2013 and in just his first full season at the club, he helped the Reds run Manchester City close to the league title, under Brendan Rodgers. He still stands as one of the best finishers in the game at the moment but his horrific injury history saw Klopp lose faith in him last season.
He was sent to West Brom on loan in January earlier this year, and only managed to play six games, failing to register a goal. He has missed more than 35% of his club’s games in the last couple of years and for someone standing as one of the top earners at the club, he is hardly ever reliable.
He has a knack of scoring important goals, against even the toughest of opponents and is probably England’s best striker after Harry Kane. But lack of consistency and a wide range of injury issues makes him an outsider for both club and country now.
He is still 28, has over 200 league appearances in England and is an established striker. His most prolific season came alongside Luis Suarez, where the duo scored over 30 goals apiece, but under Klopp, he has never been preferred over Roberto Firmino.
He will continue to struggle for game time at Anfield and for his future, a move out of Liverpool is the best way forward. For the Reds, he is a quality player they will not want to lose but they have enough options to replace him with, and it might be best for all parties to part ways.

He was a fan favourite at Anfield and his constant mention of Liverpool in his social media profiles show that he loves the club. So if Klopp is confident that he can overcome his injury issues, the striker definitely deserves another chance.
But if reports that claim that he is wanted by Sevilla are true, Sturridge should jump at the opportunity to play regular football, away from the plights of the English top flight. At £15m, he is an absolute steal for any club but at that price, Liverpool do not really have to sell. So it will be up to the player to decide where his future lies.
Do you think he can still make an impact on the first team at Anfield?
