Chelsea have tabled an offer for AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker ahead of a potential move in the summer. According to recent reports, the Blues have launched a bid for the Brazilian international’s signature but the amount of the fee has not yet been disclosed. It is believed that talks about a new contract have broken down between Chelsea and their Belgian keeper, Thibaut Courtois, which could pave the way for Alisson to replace him in goal at Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian has put in a number of majestic performances for the Italian outfit during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. However, the Blues could face stiff competition from Liverpool who have also been heavily linked with a move for the AS Roma shot-stopper.
Alisson had made 49 appearances for Roma last season, conceding 47 goals while keeping 22 clean sheets across all competitions. The Serie A star has also earned 31 international caps for the Brazilian national team so far in his career. He is exactly the type of talent who can fill the shoes of Courtois if the Belgian makes a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer. Hence, the Blues should do everything in their power to secure his signature in this post-season.
The West London giants had a trophyless campaign and also missed out on UEFA Champions League football after only managing to claim a 5th placed finish in the English top-flight. They are in dire need to bring in some reinforcements during this ongoing transfer window who can increase their chances of securing some major silverware next term.
The addition of Alisson will undoubtedly bolster Chelsea’s defensive options ahead of the new season. The London club has the likes of Thibaut Courtois, Willy Caballero and Eduardo Carvalho competing for a starting berth at Stamford Bridge. The potential acquisition of Alisson will definitely improve their team and add more competition for places within the Chelsea squad.

At 25, the Brazilian keeper still has his peak years ahead of him which the West Londoners could look to utilise in the coming years. The Roma goalie can come in and improve their backline significantly in the upcoming campaign. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Alisson and whether he ends up sealing a move to the Premier League this summer.
