Manchester City are reportedly interested in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The defender is only 23 years old. He has been rated highly in Italy and is considered to be one of the best defenders in Serie A along with Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.
He has attracted interest from a host of clubs in Europe. The top clubs in Europe are interested in signing him and he might be on the move this season. The two clubs of Manchester are said to be vying for his signature but both Manchester City and Manchester United have seen their opening bids rejected.
It is believed that having returned to the Champions League after a six year break, Inter are looking to hold on to their aces. They have some good players in the squad like Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Milan Skriniar. They refused to let go of Perisic last season when Manchester United reportedly approached him and are looking to do the same thing with Skriniar this season.
Entering the Champions League would mean fighting the big clubs and Inter will need their best players to succeed there. However, it is also being reported that Inter are in a messy financial situation and will need to sell to balance their books.
According to the rules of the Financial Fair Play as instructed by UEFA, the Italian club will need to raise an amount of £35m to steer clear of the trouble brewing with their finances. The financial constrict situation will, however, put clubs like Manchester United and Manchester City in a position of hope as they will look to sign Skriniar and offer the money to Inter, which they need to clear the FFP problems.
As for Manchester City, the players have been excellent under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola this season. The Spaniard arrived two seasons back and has produced a dazzling display of attacking football this season to help the Citizens to the title this season.
His defence has however been troubled at times. He has trusted completely on Nicolas Otamendi but finding a partner for the Argentine remains a priority. Vincent Kompany, despite all his experience, is now old and injury-prone. John Stones has simply not been good enough and Aymeric Laporte has talent but needs time to settle down.

This would make the signature of Skriniar, one of great priority. The defender is young and can be moulded into a typical ball-playing centre-back under Guardiola.
