Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Stoke City midfield star Joe Allen. The Potters’ star was brought into the club from Liverpool by the former manager Mark Hughes. Allen is a talented central midfielder who failed to make his mark at Merseyside. Owing to the tough nature of competition at Anfield, the Scot was granted permission to leave and ended up joining Stoke City.
He made a good start to life at Stoke City playing in every game for them. However, over time his form dipped and he was sidelined from the playing eleven. Under new manager Paul Lambert, Allen failed to form a reputation.
With Lambert now gone and Stoke relegated, things are worse than ever at the club. With the Potters getting relegated, they will have to reshuffle their squad and cut down on their expenses to survive in the Championship.
They will have to start by selling players, especially the ones who are on top of the payroll. This would mean that Stoke would most certainly be saying goodbye to Allen who costs them a considerable amount of wages every week.
As for Allen himself, even the player would want to move away from a sinking ship and join the champions of the Scottish League. He would be joining a team who are high on confidence and have shown enough guts this year to participate in Europe next season.
Allen is a considerably decent Welsh midfielder whose career has been halted by multiple injuries. He, however, has brilliant ball control for a Welsh player in midfield and is not the typically robust British player.
He is silky with his movement and can drift in and out of positions rather easily. The player knows how to play as a number 8 and can be a real goal threat as well. He can dribble past an opponent and is a brilliant playmaker, thanks to his vision and passing abilities.

He has worked previously with Rodgers at Liverpool and the duo has a very good relation. It is no wonder why Rodgers wants to bring him into Celtic. The Hoops have a good blend of youth and experience at the team and Allen would be a perfect addition to the midfield.
