Ashley Williams is reportedly frustrated about his last campaign at Everton and it might soon turn out to be the gateway to his exit this summer. When asked if it had been a frustrating club campaign, he said: “Yes, definitely.”
Williams added: “But that season is done now and I’m just looking forward to this game and into pre-season for the next campaign. It’s always difficult not being involved and you want to play because playing a game is that bit harder.”
“But what can you do? I’ve just tried to stay in shape and I’ll just try and use my experience as best I can and play as well as I can.” And despite his lack of recent appearances, Williams has no concerns about his match fitness.
“I’m fine. I haven’t played since the Uruguay game but I’ve been training every day and trying to keep fit that way,” he added. “I’m just delighted to have met back up with the lads with Wales as we always are. We keep saying it all the time and we have a laugh and enjoy everyone else’s company.”
Ashley Williams made his way to the Merseyside club from Swansea City and had been considered as a first team starter in his early days at Goodison Park. However, with time his aura has faded and last season he had to spend a lot of time on the bench and make bits and pieces appearances behind Phil Jagielka, Michael Keane and even the young Mason Holgate.
This might be an indication to the fact that post the FIFA World Cup, he will definitely need to consider his future and here are 3 clubs he can look to move to unless his situation at Everton changes.
Leeds United
Leeds started off the season in brilliant fashion under the tutelage of Thomas Christiansen. However, their wheels fell off mid-season and the coach was sacked. In came Paul Heckingbottom and he has not been able to improve the team.
It is clear that they need reinforcement and the backline needs a solid leader next to Pontus Jansson. Ashley Williams with his wealth of experience is the perfect man to be added to the squad and at his age, he can still put in a couple of seasons of utility at the club.
Wolves
The club just won their promotion to the big league this season and will need reinforcement to keep up with the stronger teams. They need players who know the league inside out and Williams can be the perfect calming influence at the back.
He has the experience of playing in the top league and will help solidify the backline. Moreover, with Wolves’ 3-man back system, he will have two partners and his lack of pace at the back will not be exposed.

The Saints have not been able to replace their Dutch star Virgil Van Dijk ever since he left back in January. They still need a leader and Williams could be the man. Williams still has a lot to offer in the league and the Saints could look to use that by bringing in the experienced defender.
