AC Milan are plotting a move for Chelsea centre-forward Alvaro Morata this summer. According to recent reports, the Spaniard is being linked with a move to San Siro after struggling to find consistency at the West London club last season. It is believed that the Serie A giants are now looking to snap him up this summer and has already held talks with the Blues over a potential move for the Spanish striker.
However, Milan are not the only ones looking to seal a move for the Spanish striker with Juventus also keeping tabs on his situation at Stamford Bridge. Morata has endured a difficult start to this year and has struggled to score goals consistently for the Blues which has seen him being excluded from the Spanish national squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup which kicks off in Russia next month.
Morata was often overlooked in the last few weeks of the season by Antonio Conte and found himself on the bench for the FA Cup final when Chelsea saw off Manchester United with a narrow 1-0 scoreline. Olivier Giroud was preferred to lead the lines ahead of him which has thrown his future in doubt at West London.
The Spaniard had made 48 appearances for the Blues last term, scoring 15 goals while grabbing 6 assists in all competitions.
The Blues were able to clinch a fifth-place finish in the English top-flight last season which will see them miss out on UEFA Champions League football next term. They are in need to bring in some quality players in this summer transfer period who can help them close the gap to the Top 4 in the upcoming campaign.
Retaining some of their top players could go a long way in aiding their quest of competing for major silverware next year. However, Morata does not seem like he can cut the mustard at Stamford Bridge after putting in a number of lacklustre performances during the course of last season. Chelsea could use the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement or strengthen other areas of their squad.

The West London outfit has the likes of Olivier Giroud, Eden Hazard and Pedro competing for a place in their first-team. Hence, they can afford to let Morata leave and still be able to cope with his loss going into the new season. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Morata and whether he ends up making a switch out of Stamford Bridge this summer.
