Bet Victor has given West Brom 8/1 odds of landing Derby County striker, Matej Vydra following their Championship playoff loss to Fulham last week. The Rams have been knocked out and might just be in the market for offloading some of their players.
Albion could certainly do with some help since they are almost destined at this point to lose both Salomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez in the coming month. Getting Vydra will not be easy either. Fulham have better odds (6/1) because of their current manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, who had previously worked with the 26-year-old.
Vydra certainly has earned the newfound interest clubs might have towards him. The Czech Republic international has netted 22 times to lead the Derby offence to an inspired run to the promotion playoffs. It seemed like the Rams were off the tips of even making it into the top 6 late into the campaign but ended up squeezing in.
Vydra has made his presence felt in his 44 appearances, totalling it to 80 for the Pride Park-based outfit. He has had previous spells with Premier League outfits like Watford and even West Brom themselves.
The centre-forward broke into the scene with his 22 goals and 9 assists in his season-long loan spell with Watford. He got awarded the Championship Player Of The Season and was subsequently loaned off to the Baggies, following the Hornets’ disappointment in earning promotion.
Vydra could not replicate his previous season wonders at the Hawthorns but still managed to score 6, in his debut Premier League season. He managed another 16 in his second stint with Watford and was signed permanently.
Derby ended up nabbing him for £8m in the summer of 2016 after the failed season with Watford, while out on loan to Reading. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches, Vydra has the instinct of a striker but lacks consistency required to be a high profile name.
He also struck out in top-flight football but is still one of the prestigious names in the Championship. Albion needs a proven goalscorer to break their woeful scoring form and lead the team back into the Premier League next campaign.

It was inspiring to see them make a last-ditch attempt for survival and maybe some of it will carry over to the following season, under the guidance of Darren Moore. They might be able to knock an affordable deal once Rondon and Rodriguez are off their books.
