Rangers have confirmed the signing of their former goalkeeper, Allan McGregor to a new two-year contract. The veteran wasted no time in thanking the Hull City fans and expressing boundless joy on returning to his home state.

McGregor has been at his consistent best till the very end of his career with the Championship side. Even at such a late juncture of his playing career, McGregor refused to show signs of slowing down. He was even named in Alex McLeish’s Scotland squad and earlier in the season.
McGregor was quoted – “I don’t feel any different than I was five, 10 years ago. Obviously, it’s going to hit you at one point, but I can’t see it being in the near future, hopefully. I’m not really thinking about long-term, just thinking about these games coming up and trying to do your best. I feel good for my age. I wouldn’t say I feel old. It’s just a number, age. It’s good to be back.”
McGregor started his professional career with the Light Blues themselves and went on to make 250 appearances during his early years. He has been capped at international level 35 times and even spent a season with the Turkish side, Besiktas.
The veteran shot-stopper has travelled everywhere and played in some of the most prestigious leagues in top-flight European football. He had helped the Gers progress to the Quarter Finals of the 2008 UEFA Super Cup after beating out SV Werder Bremen in the 4th round.
It was only due to Rangers’ financial issues that McGregor had to be sold off to Besiktas. Nevertheless, the 36-year-old made an illustrious career in English football, cementing his place in the City squad. He underwent a rough patch in the previous season which made him lose his starting spot to Eldin Jakupovic and David Marshall and force a loan move away to Cardiff City in January 2017.
Rangers are on a hopeful journey of overcoming their bitter rivals, Celtic to the league title next season. Ideally, that would take a lot of squad strength including the talent and experience from top-pedigree players like McGregor.

He will solidify the Rangers backline with his leadership skills and will be able to implement Gerrard’s gameplan into the relatively young Gers squad.
