Leicester City are being linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini this summer. According to recent reports, the Foxes are ready to offer him an escape route out of Old Trafford when the transfer window opens in the summer. The Belgian international’s contract with the Red Devils runs out at the end of the current campaign and thus, he will become a free agent at the end of June this year.
A whole host of clubs which includes Claude Puel’s team as well as Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, West Ham United, AS Monaco and Besiktas, who are all keen on landing the former Everton player in the off-season. It is understood that the 30-year-old midfield ace is frustrated with the lack of game time at Manchester United during the course of this campaign and could now be looking for a new challenge away from the North-west of England going into the summer transfer window.
Fellaini has been an irregular feature in Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven this season and has been troubled by injuries over the past few years. Some sources are now claiming that his future at United is currently uncertain, which could mean that the idea of a potential switch to the King Power Stadium is not too far-fetched. The Belgian midfielder, who used to play for Standard Liege, has featured in 21 matches for United this season, scoring 4 goals and grabbing one assist in all competitions.
The West Midlands club are currently sitting in the 8th position in the Premier League standings with a tally of 44 points in 34 league fixtures. Puel’s men have recently held to a 0-0 draw at home versus Southampton in their last league outing.
The addition of Fellaini will undoubtedly bolster Claude Puel’s midfield options ahead of the new season as the Foxes look to establish themselves in the top half of the league table next term. Leicester City have the likes of Wilfred Ndidi, Adrien Silva, Vicente Iborra, Matty James and Hamza Choudhury vying for a place in the Puel’ first-team. The potential acquisition of Fellaini will definitely add more competition for places in the Leicester squad.

At 30, the United midfielder still has a few years left in him to play at the top level which the West Midlands team could look to capitalise on, in the coming years. Fellaini is aerially dominant and could turn out to be a clever piece of business if Leicester City can pull off such a deal. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Fellaini and whether he ends up making a move to the King Power Stadium in the near future.
