Manchester United have changed a lot from the club Sir Alex Ferguson left a few years back. The Scot had taken the Red Devils to the pinnacle of the game. They won every trophy under him and that made them the biggest team not just in England but throughout the world.
However, since his departure the club has gone through the mill. The immediate appointment of David Moyes failed and the former Everton manager failed to deliver. His successor Louis Van Gaal had a longer time in charge but the net result was the same with the Dutchman failing to create an impact at the club. He failed to get the club together.
The third man in charge and the current boss Jose Mourinho has done slightly better. He has won trophies at Old Trafford and United are slowly but surely nearing the top. His men will want to go one better next season and win the league.
What has been common however, in the entire story is the process of money being spent. United have spent lavishly owing to their heavy profits under Sir Alex. They have brought in the biggest players in the market and spent millions of dollars in their wages. This has left United fans demanding victory even more.
It seems that the trend is set to continue next season with more names added to the Red Devils roster. Mourinho has already formed a fearsome attack with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba in his team. He would want to turn his attention towards his defence now in order to finish building his house.
United have hence been linked with a move for Monaco full back Djibril Sidibe. The right back has been in excellent form over the last two seasons playing for AS Monaco in France. He has been a key member and looks set to leave France this year with United being rumoured as one of his possible destinations.
The fast and attacking minded right back would fit right into the United team. The Red Devils currently have Antonio Valencia as the first choice right back with his back up being Matteo Darmian. Darmian is far from the player Mourinho likes and the Italian could be packing his bags in the summer.
Valencia is an excellent player but given his age he will need replacing soon with Sidibe being the ideal option. All that remains now is for the involved parties to make an official deal and Sidibe could be a Red Devil in the near future!
