Spanish news outlet, Don Balon claims that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah is demanding for Real Madrid to sign Alisson Becker along with him in the next transfer window. The Egyptian seems to be closing in on a world record deal to the Santiago Bernabeu and he would like nothing better than to establish himself as the one of the club’s biggest players.
Obviously, this might just be a total far cry from the actual truth but let us not completely write off the possibilities. The Galacticos have been on the hunt for a goalkeeper for some time and Alison was already on their shortlist.
However, after facing heavy resistance from AS Roma in the summer and the player himself, they chose to direct all their focus on the Premier League duo, Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea. Whether Roma will cave to Real Madrid’s charm and planet-sized bank account is yet to be seen but nothing will happen unless Florentino Perez takes a strong action on the matter.
Salah knows the Brazilian goalkeeper from his single-season association with AS Roma. The Liverpool winger might still hold a close relationship with Becker and a familiar face in a new environment always makes it easier for players to break out of their shell.
Salah is currently the story of England with 29 goals in the Premier League and 8 in other competitions. He has been a revelation this season has spearheaded Liverpool’s campaign towards a top-four spot in the points table.
The 25-year-old’s burst of pace and sublime scoring ability seems to have transcended him to world-class status and plenty of European sides are preparing to break the bank for him. Ideally, it would cost the Galacticos a signified amount of money since Salah is tied to Anfield for another 4 seasons.
He can be a prime replacement for the injury-riddled Gareth Bale who looks to be closing in on a Bernabeu exit, himself. Perez is ready to offload the Welshman after failing to see much return on his record-breaking investment.
Salah might not be able to replicate all of Bale’s talents but he draws a lot of similarities – the burst of pace, the prolific left-foot and the keen eye for goal. The former Chelsea winger will add a lot of offensive power to the ageing Madrid front three and could form a lucrative partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo himself.
Whether his transfer will depend on that of Alisson’s is yet to be seen but Liverpool is sure to put up heavy resistance, especially now that they have lost Philippe Coutinho a couple of months back.
