West Ham United are plotting a move for PSV Eindhoven youngster Jayden Braaf next summer. According to recent reports, the Hammers are one of the many clubs interested in a summer move for the Dutch starlet. A whole host of clubs which include the likes of West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Braaf’s former club Ajax are keeping tabs on the teenage prospect.
However, some sources have recently claimed that Braaf is inching closer to joining Chelsea in the summer. In a recent interview, Braaf’s agent and uncle, Stefano van Delden was quoted to have said, “We have reached an agreement in principle for Jayden to join Chelsea.
“But it is a verbal agreement.
“Nothing has yet been put in writing.”
Braaf came through the youth ranks of the prestigious Ajax academy and can be considered as one of the brightest young prospects in European football. He is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the frontline. The Dutch teenager can play on either flank or as a centre-forward up top which makes him a perfect fit for the Hammers.
The PSV Eindhoven forward will be free to officially sign a professional contract when he turns 16 on August 31.
The East Londoners are currently sitting in the 17th place in the Premier League table with a tally of 30 points in 30 league matches. David Moyes’ team still finds themselves just two points above the drop zone and are in real danger of suffering the agony of being relegated to the Skybet Championship at the end of the season. They are in dire need to bring in some reinforcements during the summer transfer period in their quest to push on and improve their league performance in the next campaign.
West Ham have the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Marko Arnautovic and Jordan Hugill vying for a place in David Moyes’ starting eleven. The potential signing of Braaf will undoubtedly bolster Moyes’ attacking options in a few years time but for now, it seems like he has to develop his game at the youth level to try and break into the Hammers first-team in the coming years.
At 15, Braaf has immense potential and could turn out to be a Premier League star if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in a nurturing environment. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Braaf and whether he ends up making a switch to the London Stadium in the near future.
