Manchester City Are Facing Stiff Competition For This Serie A Full-Back: Is He Worth The Fight?

In a recent report, Alfredo Pedulla mentioned that Manchester City are facing stiff competition for Atalanta full-back Marco Palestra, who is currently playing on loan at Cagliari. It has been revealed that the Mancunian giants would have to rival Inter Milan in the race to sign the Italian defender in this summer transfer period.

Palestra’s Impressive Loan Spell At Cagliari

Palestra has experienced a solid loan spell at Cagliari this season as he has been responsible for putting in a string of impressive displays on the right side of their backline. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net once and earned four assists in 37 matches for the Italian outfit in this campaign across multiple competitions.

The Italian talent is currently among the most gifted young full-backs in Serie A. Therefore, it is no surprise that Man City are in the running to acquire his services this summer.

His current contract at his parent club, Atalanta, will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Man City to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Manchester City Are Facing Stiff Competition For Palestra: Is He Worth The Fight?

Palestra is a good tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his side on the defensive end of the field. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Italian sensation can even create some promising chances for his teammates to score. Palestra is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player or as a left-winger if asked to do so. However, only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League if the Mancunian outfit manage to win the race for his services.

Palestra would bring more quality and depth to Man City’s backline. He is good enough to fight with Matheus Nunes for a regular first-team spot at the Etihad Stadium in the coming years.

At 21, Palestra has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. He would be well worth the fight, so Man City should consider going all out to bring him on board in this summer transfer period.
