In a recent report, The Telegraph mentioned that Newcastle United are keeping a keen eye on Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to get a deal done for the Cameroonian talent this January.
Mbeumo’s Impressive Form In The Premier League This Season
Mbeumo has enjoyed an excellent run of form at the English club as he has put in a lot of protective displays for them in front of the opponent’s goal. The Cameroonian attacker has banged in eight goals in ten matches for Brentford this season across all fronts.
The 25-year-old has given a good account of himself in the final third based on his average of 2.3 shots, 1.9 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after completing 76.5% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
His current contract at the English club will run out in the summer of 2026. Hence, it won’t be easy for the Magpies to get a deal done for him on the cheap this winter.
Should Newcastle United Boss Eddie Howe Snap Mbeumo Up?
Mbeumo is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates up top and is a good dribbler with the ball as well.
The Cameroon international can strike the ball with venom from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals in the final third. He mainly functions as a striker but can also play as a right-winger if needed.
Mbeumo would inject more firepower into Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe’s attack. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at St. James’ Park in the coming years.
At 25, Mbeumo has his peak years ahead of him which makes him a decent choice for the Magpies to pursue this January. Therefore, Howe would be wise to try everything in his power to snap him up when the transfer window reopens at the start of January.
