As per a report published by Fichajes, Manchester United recently established contact with Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah as the Premier League club are interested in signing the defender to improve their overall defensive unit.
Jonathan Tah is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen
Jonathan Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015 and has been associated with them since then. Over the past decade, he has been one of their key members, who has helped the club touch new heights in world football.
Tah was an integral part of the side last season, in which the German side scripted history. He featured in 48 games, netting six goals and providing one assist. He averaged 0.6 tackles, 0.7 interceptions, and 3.1 clearances per game (stats via whoscored).
The German centre-back is well known for his strong physicality and aerial dominance. He reads the game really well and deals with emerging threats appropriately. He is also comfortable on the ball, allowing him to build attacks from the back.
Jonathan Tah is a great option to add
Manchester United identified their weakness of the last campaign and addressed it properly this time. They brought the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro to improve the defensive line. However, the club do not plan to stop here as they have now set their eyes on Jonathan Tah.
Tah can be an upgrade for Harry Maguire, who is expected to leave the Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer windows. The former is 28 years old and still at the peak of his powers. His addition will surely help the English side solidify their backline and comfort the young lads.
Most importantly, Tah’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he will come for free. However, the Red Devils will have to win the race against some big clubs like Barcelona, who are also moving towards the player.
