As per a report published by TBR, Arsenal are interested in signing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams as they look to bolster the offensive unit. The former side are willing to match the demands of the Spanish outfit to lure away the winger.
Nico Williams is an electrifying winger
Nico Williams is a highly-rated winger in the world of fotball at present. Coming from Athletic Bilbao Academy, he made his debut in 2020. Since then, he has been on an improving spree and has established himself as a mainstay in the side.
Williams mainly features on the left wing but can also be deployed on the other side if required. He is known for his speed, trickery, dribbles, and clinical finishing. Apart from his offensive traits, he also tracks back well to help in the defensive aspects.
The Spanish is having a quiet season so far as he has netted only two goals in 15 outings so far. He is averaging 2 shots, 1.6 key passes, and 2.2 dribbles per game (stats via whoscored). He has registered two assists in the process.
Arsenal can trigger his release clause
It’s not the first time when Arsenal are being linked with Nico Williams. Similar reports emerged this summer but the English giant refrained from making a move. With Mikel Arteta‘s side struggling to create goals up front, they can finally look for reinforcement.
The Gunners would love to have Williams at their disposal as he has high qualities. He can be used in different positions and his qualities will help them a lot. He can be a long-term investment for the club as the player is just 22 years old.
Very unlikely that Athletic Bilbao will let the player go in the January window. But Arsenal can get the job done by triggering his release clause of around £50 million. However, the English giant will probably face stiff competition from the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool, and Newcastle United.
